BIO

Magnus de Witt is adjunct research faculty at ACEP. His research at ACEP focuses on the energy transition in AV狼论坛, the Railbelt and remote communities. His research includes energy security, energy policy and energy implementation methods.

De Witt鈥檚 doctoral research at the Department of Engineering at Reykjav铆k University focused on which energy resources are available in the Arctic and how the various resources can be harvested with different mature energy technology options for remote Arctic communities to reduce the cost burden related to energy. Furthermore, he studied the current energy situation among remote Arctic communities. He mapped out which energy sources are used, the share of the different sources, and the energy demand of remote communities.

De Witt earned a master鈥檚 degree in sustainable energy engineering from the Iceland School of Energy hosted at Reykjav铆k University. His research focused on analyzing and optimizing the project lifecycle of geothermal power plants. He also holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in mechanical engineering.

De Witt has traveled across the Arctic to conduct field studies and see the energy situation firsthand.
