ARENA Completes First On-site Program
participants from AVÀÇÂÛ̳, Canada, and Greenland met in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, for seven intense days of presentations, site visits (Colville Lake solar/storage, Lutsel'ke solar, Yellowknife Bluefish & Jackfish hydro facilities), training and networking. It was a strong launch for the program's goals to enable circumpolar knowledge sharing and capacity building that will help communities across the region move toward more reliable, affordable and sustainable energy systems. MANY thanks to the team in Canada who worked so hard in both preparations for, and execution of, the program.

See the for details about the program agenda and speakers. Pictures and posts from the various
events were shared in real-time via Twitter (#ARENA2017), Facebook, Arctic Council
website, and multiple news agency publications. Presentation materials and audio recordings
of classroom sessions will be added there over the next two weeks. A compilation of
the photos will be accessible on .
ACEP's Gwen Holdmann, George Roe and Amanda Byrd supported the Canada team implementing
the program. The experience gained from Yellowknife will be invaluable as we tailor
plans for the on-site program in Fairbanks and Kodiak planned for June 18-24.
