2021 AV狼论坛 Railbelt Net Metering Update Released
The ACEP solar team has released the 鈥2021 AV狼论坛 Railbelt Net Metering Update.鈥 The report presents data from utility filings to the Regulatory Commission of AV狼论坛.
Net metered capacity on the Railbelt grew by 52% over the past year, driven primarily by solar installations. Summaries are also presented for individual Railbelt utilities.
Net metering is an electricity billing mechanism that allows consumers who generate some or all of their own electricity to use that electricity at any time, not just when it is generated. For example, if a residential electric utility customer installs a solar photovoltaic system on their roof, it may generate more electricity than the home uses during daylight hours.
The report details the changes that some utilities have made to their net metering limits and makes some estimates about the percent of net metered generation that feeds back onto the electric grid.
ACEP has been tracking the net metering capacity of the Railbelt utilities for the last five years, and this is the second annual report which aims to present the data in an easy-to-read format for interested parties.
