Dr. Christopher Hartman
Associate Professor of Computer Science, Emeritus
WHEREAS Dr. Christopher Hartman served the University of AVÀÇÂÛ̳ Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and public service from 1997 to 2021; and
WHEREAS Dr. Hartman, who is himself a graduate of the University, is a dedicated instructor who offers formal and informal assistance to all students, not just those enrolled in his classes; and he developed and regularly taught a course in software construction regarded by some students as their favorite class; and he is lauded by students for combining academic rigor with enthusiasm, curiosity and a sincere interest in students’ success; and
WHEREAS Dr. Hartman is considered a world expert on graph coloring problems; and has co-authored or participated in more than two dozen refereed publications and video and juried demonstrations; and he excels at collaborative, interdisciplinary work with other researchers, often providing key insights to the benefit of their projects; and
WHEREAS Dr. Hartman has ably served the University in a variety of capacities, including as department chair and in roles on Faculty Senate, the Honors Faculty Advisory Committee, dean and faculty search committees, and a department accreditation self-study that was selected by the accrediting body as an example of a well-prepared report;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of AVÀÇÂÛ̳ Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Dr. Christopher Hartman for his extensive contributions to the State of AVÀÇÂÛ̳ and to the University; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of AVÀÇÂÛ̳ Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Dr. Hartman and as evidence of the University’s desire that his identification with the University be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Dr. Christopher Hartman as Associate Professor of Computer Science, Emeritus; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the Chancellor of the University of AVÀÇÂÛ̳ Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Dr. Christopher Hartman, and conveyed to Dr. Hartman on this first day of May, 2021.
