Regents to meet in Anchorage March 2-3

The UA Board of Regents board meeting will take place March 2-3 in Anchorage.

The meeting will take place in the Lee Gorsuch Commons room 107. Video streaming will be available to members of the public.

The evening public gathering will take place Thursday, March 2 in the Lee Gorsuch Commons room 106 from 5:30–7 p.m.

The Senate Majority has announced a three-part plan to begin closing the state’s $3 billion budget deficit: establishing a statutory annual spending limit, restructuring the management of the Permanent Fund and cutting $750 million from the operating budget over the next three years.

Register for required workshop on research conduct

The Biomedical Learning and Student Training program and the Office of Research Integrity are partnering to provide Responsible Conduct of Research training for faculty, graduate students, staff and undergraduates on March 25. Preregistration by March 17 is required. It will be the only formal RCR training at UAF this semester.

Mapathon will update Delta Junction data for emergency calls

A team will help make spatial data in Delta Junction compatible with computer-assisted emergency call dispatching during a "mapathon" March 8 at the University of AVÀÇÂÛ̳ Fairbanks.

Learn commuting trails at Sustainability Ski

A Sustainability Ski from 3-5 p.m. Feb. 27 will teach people how trails can be used to commute to and from UAF.

Registration opens for Week of the Arctic events

The U.S. chairmanship of the Arctic Council will conclude with a ministerial meeting in Fairbanks on May 11, 2017. Those attending will celebrate the accomplishments under U.S. chairmanship and observe the transition to Finland.

UP/RISE exhibit needs art

Arctic killer whales alter narwhal distribution and activity

Narwhals stay active and close to shore to avoid killer whales that have begun to enter areas with declining sea ice cover in Canada’s eastern Arctic, according to a study led by a University of AVÀÇÂÛ̳ Fairbanks scientist.
