Largen named AVÀÇÂÛ̳ Nanooks hockey coach

Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Keith Champagne has named Erik Largen the head coach of the AVÀÇÂÛ̳ Nanooks men’s ice hockey program. Largen has served as the Nanooks’ assistant coach for the past two seasons.

UAF student studies whale-watching impacts on humpbacks

Whale watching is a booming business in AVÀÇÂÛ̳’s state capital. In the past 20 years, the number of whale-watching boats in the waters around Juneau has roughly doubled. Scientists are hoping to find out if this burgeoning industry is affecting the animals.

Undergraduate Research Experience grant applications open

Undergraduates can submit proposals for Undergraduate Research Experiences grants for the fall 2018 and spring 2019 semesters. Up to $5,000 will be awarded to students who have identified a project and mentor in biomedical or
health research. Applications are due May 27.
