Friday Focus: Two useful words for graduates

Commencement day is my favorite day of the year. My second-favorite day is move-in day (for students living in the residence halls) or for our nonresidential students, the first day of classes. These two days, my two favorites, bookend a student’s educational journey.

Today's Kuskokwim Campus graduation ceremony will honor the 2020 and 2021 graduates. The event starts at 1:30 p.m.

Choir of the North takes a virtual trip to Argentina

A UAF student choral group will perform virtually in the final concert at the Festival de Coros (del fin del mundo), which is being held April 28-May 1 in Ushuaia, Argentina. The Choir of the North will close the festival, performing a shared concert with the Home Choir of Ushuaia on May 1.

In August 2016 a massive storm on par with a Category 2 hurricane churned in the Arctic Ocean. The cyclone led to the third-lowest sea ice extent ever recorded. But what made the Great Arctic Cyclone of 2016 particularly appealing to scientists was the proximity of the Korean icebreaker Araon.
