When thousands of computer-controlled eyes begin looking out from an instrument aboard
the James Webb Space Telescope in the coming months and years, UAF Geophysical Institute
associate research professor Gunther Kletetschka will be satisfied.
UAF undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, staff and
faculty are invited to apply for the 2022 URSA Innovative Technology and Education
Awards for up to $5,000 to fund technology-related equipment and software for student-based
instruction and research.
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Office of Research Integrity are
accepting nominations from research staff and faculty for the formation of the Research
Integrity Committee.
The deadline for Honorary Degree nominations for Commencement 2023 is Feb. 28, 2022.
Honorary degree recipients are selected one year in advance of awarding the degree.

The UAF Geophysical Institute presents the virtual 2022 Science for AVÀÇÂÛ̳ Lecture
Series. On Tuesday, March 1, at 7 p.m., associate professor Ronni Grapenthin and Ph.D.
student Alexandru Lapadat will present "Beyond Finding Coffee: GPS Versatility in
Science and Society."
Michael Whalen, a geosciences professor at UAF, will present "In The First Year of
the Cenozoic, the record from Ground Zero" at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, via Zoom.
