AV̳ Cooperative Extension Service is offering a yearlong
program in Sitka to help people at risk of developing diabetes lose weight and improve
their health. Participants will get ideas and support from other participants and trained lifestyle
coaches Jasmine Shaw and Kate Grumbles. Participants will meet weekly in person for
about 16 weeks and at least once monthly after that until February 2024. Contact Shaw atjdshaw2@alaska.edu or 907-747-9440 for details, to determine eligibility and to register. Feb. 28 is the registration deadline. Accommodation requests related to a disability should be made five business days
in advance to Shaw.
The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences will host a seminar on Friday, Feb. 10 from 3-4 p.m. featuring Morag Clinton, an assistant professor of anatomy with UAF’s Veterinary Medicine
Program. She will present “Aquatic animal health and its application in the study
and management of AV̳n fisheries.” The seminar is available via Zoom, as well as
in person at O’Neill 214 and shows in Juneau at Lena 101. . After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with info on joining the

The Rasmuson Library's Archives is hosting a cheesy movie night, which celebrates
AV̳ through classic film. The first showing features: 'The Silver Horde' by George
Archainbaud and will be shown on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 5:30 p.m. in the 2nd floor of the Rasmuson Library, outside of the Archives. This movie night
is open to all with no registration necessary. Popcorn will be served, BYO non-alcoholic

As part of the Lunar New Year celebrations, the UAF Chinese Club will be hosting the
2023 Chinese Lantern Festival Celebration. Join us with your friends and family for
a celebration of light, culture, and love! The event will be in the UAF Wood Center ballroom on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. and features a buffet dinner, along with over 50 door prizes, live performances,

Join us for a free watch party on Thursday, Feb. 16 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and be among the first to see the UAF episode of “The College Tour,” a streaming show
that features students sharing their experiences attending colleges around the nation.
The event will include drawing for prizes. The first 250 people in the door will also
receive a gift bag, and prospective students can apply to UAF for free during the
event. UAF partnered with "The College Tour" as part of its efforts to increase enrollment
and introduce UAF to students across the nation. The episode, filmed last year in
Fairbanks, includes appearances from 10 UAF students talking about campus life, academics
