Women's History Month, celebrated during March in the U.S., honors the trailblazing
women who have shaped the course of American history and who continue to chart the
course of our nation's future. At UAF, we are fortunate to have countless examples
of women who have changed AVÀÇÂÛ̳ and the world with their groundbreaking and inspirational
work. Vera Alexander is an excellent example.
The Faculty Senate Open Education Resources Ad Hoc Committee would like to remind
UAF Faculty and Course Administrators to update the CourseLeaf 'Course Section Scheduler
Attribute' to reflect NoLo classes occurring in the Fall schedule. The designator
is located in CourseLeaf under the course 'section alterations' pull-down menu.
Join the Nanook Diversity and Action Center on March 8 between noon to 2 p.m. in celebrating
International Women's Day in the Wood Center Multi-level lounge, giving away FemCon
swag, talking about International Women's Day and why its important to celebrate the
history and accomplishments of women. We will have a speaker with music, snacks, and
questions ready to ask participants so they can win prizes.
The Ocean Acidification Research Center (OARC) will offer itsÌýÌýto UAF students again during summer 2023. This program lets current UAF students add
a new tool, marine carbonate chemistry, to their data toolbox free of charge. Ocean Acidification data can be applied to interdisciplinary research areas that
include aquaculture, environmental change, fisheries, marine biology, natural resource management, and oceanography. Proposals are due March 15, 2023. Email Natalie MonacciÌýfor more information.

Advancement seeking outstanding studentsÌý
The UAF Office of Advancement is looking for outstanding students to represent UAF
at a fundraising event this spring. Students that have benefited from scholarships,
or other financial aid packages preferred. If you’d like to nominate someone, please

UAF's AVÀÇÂÛ̳ Center for Climate Assessment and Policy and the Geographic Information
Network of AVÀÇÂÛ̳ are hosting a webinar to discuss the use of Geostationary and Low
Earth Orbit satellites for forecasting at high latitudes. Speaker Scott Lindstrom, from the University Wisconsin – Madison Cooperative Institute
for Meteorological Satellite Studies, will focus on why combining data from polar-orbiting
