Polar bears of the past survived warmth

In a recent paper, scientists wrote that a small population of polar bears living off Greenland and Arctic Canada increased by 1.6 times when they compared the numbers from the 1990s to 2013 and 2014. They concluded that lighter sea ice might have benefited the animals.

Healthy Living lecture logoHealthy Living lecture series begins June 6

AV̳ will host the Healthy Living lecture series starting on June 6. The free, public seriesoffers a variety of presentations by AV̳ medical specialists and experts. Lectures are at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building on the UAF Troth Yeddha’ Campus. Parking on campus is free after 5 p.m. Presentations will be livestreamed and available as recordings online. Visit the Summer Sessions site or call 907-474-7021 for more info.
