Welcome to Week 6!
Week 6! Can you believe it!?
The first snow of the coming winter landed here in Fairbanks on Monday morning. What
a way to start your sixth week of classes! This is how we slowly slide into winter
here in the Interior. Each day is a little darker, a little cooler. Snow starts to
gradually pile up. Winter is coming.
How are you doing? Are you engaged? Do you feel like UAF is your place? Do you feel
welcome? We would like to know if you are enjoying and connecting with campus life,
events, and activities. Please click this link to take the survey and let us know:
. Our goal is to make your time here at UAF better.
Do it. Do it now! :) and be one of the first 100 participants who qualify and complete
the survey will be rewarded with a $10 gift card to be delivered by our survey partner’s,
partner, Tango Card.
So, week six. Amazing. If you had been walking each day since the start of classes
for eight hours per day at three miles per hour, you would have already traveled over
600 miles, or nearly from Fairbanks to Anchorage and back! That is how far you’ve
come. Some of you put in even more time than that. You are doing so great.
This is how you succeed – one step at a time. Each day is another day of success. You move a little farther
and climb a little higher. Make sure to take care of your ‘shoes’, and your support
systems. Keep it up! Keep going. You are over one-third of the way to the finish line!
Things to do:
Please complete the survey linked above. We need your feedback and ideas on how to
make UAF the best it can be – for you!
Have a great sixth week!
As ever, if there’s anything you’d like to share, something we’re doing great or something
we can do better, please share! You can find me at obguthrie@alaska.edu.
