Hello Nanook Nation,
Drug-free schools notification Our goal, like that of many institutions, is to improve academic success and the quality
of student life here on campus by providing programming aimed at encouraging healthy
lifestyles, as well as reducing the harm associated with alcohol andÌýdrugÌýabuse through
awareness efforts.
Alcohol andÌýdrugÌýpolicies, as well as behavioral expectations for students and employees,
are online atÌýwww.uaf.edu/orcaÌýand in theÌýUAFÌýdrug-freeÌýschoolsÌýnotification. Also included in this document is information regarding resources available for
assistance with alcohol and otherÌýdrugÌýissues, disciplinary actions for violations
of university policies, and criminal penalties associated with alcohol and otherÌýdrugÌýuse.
You can find a report of the progress made in the past two years onÌýUAF'sÌýDrugÌýFreeÌýSchoolsÌýand Communities Act webpage.
In addition to our commitment to programming and intervention/response efforts, we
also complete a Biennial Review. This review evaluates the programs we are offering,
their effectiveness, and helps inform future goals and initiatives to help support
a thriving and safe campus community. This can be found on our website.
Thank you for doing your part to keep Nanook Nation healthy and safe!
— Owen Guthrie, vice chancellor for student affairs and enrollment management
