Mental Health First Aid Classes offered in Spring
Student Health and Counseling is offering Mental Health First Aid classes on the following dates:
March 23-24, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., BP Design Theater
April 13-14, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Akasofu Room 417
Mental Health First Aid is a public education program that teaches participants the signs and symptoms of emerging mental health challenges among adults and the most effective ways to respond to someone experiencing such challenges. It teaches you how to refer to the appropriate help and when to do so, how to identify a crisis situation and respond appropriately, and very importantly, how to care for yourself when helping others. We have received wonderful feedback from others who have taken this course and feel it is so beneficial for UAF staff, faculty, students and members of the administration to have these skills and help create a community of prevention and wellness.
Registration closed.
Classes are being offered in-person only at this time. Breakfast items and refreshments are provided. The cost for the course is $35 per person, payable by fund/org code or credit card. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Kiana Carr or Nikki Baird at uaf-sh-cc@alaska.edu or call 907-474-7043.
