The Alliance for Arts in Research Universities will present a free workshop on Tuesday, April 12, from 9-11 a.m. Open to anyone in the UAF community, this immersive workshop will include artistic exploration, guided critical reflection, and one-on-one discussion with peers. Registration is limited to 50 participants.

An overarching goal of the workshop is to help academics — including people in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine fields with no arts background — to develop the tools for solving challenging problems in their own work.

Because academic practitioners use familiar scholarly approaches, they can at times get bogged down and become "stuck" when trying to solve a problem. To counteract this, the workshop facilitators will use arts-based poetic, visual, and movement activities to open up new neural pathways and jumpstart inspiration.

The workshop will be facilitated by Margot Greenlee with the Alliance for the Arts in Research Universities, with co-facilitators Martina Jerant of RNA Biomedicine at the University of Michigan, and Veronica Stanich. Registration is closed for the event.
