UAF faculty to showcase literary talents at reading

Faculty members from the University of AV狼论坛 Fairbanks will showcase their diverse writing styles and genres at a reading from 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21.
The reading, sponsored by the Fairbanks Arts Association, will be in the Bear Gallery on the third floor of the AV狼论坛 Centennial Center for the Arts at Pioneer Park, 2300 Airport Way.
The reading will feature a selection of poetry, prose and short stories from faculty members who offer UAF鈥檚 Master of Fine Arts program in creative writing: Gerri Brightwell, Daryl Farmer, Joseph Holt and Kavelina Torres.
Brightwell, a British author and professor of English at UAF, will present her novel 鈥淭urnback Ridge,鈥 which delves into themes of global warming and immigration.
Farmer, a UAF English professor who directs the MFA program, is known for his books 鈥淏icycling Beyond the Divide鈥 and 鈥淲here We Land.鈥
Holt, an assistant professor of English and author of 鈥淕olden Heart Parade,鈥 has received acclaim for his short stories in leading literary journals.
Torres, an assistant professor in UAF鈥檚 Department of Theatre and Film, contributes a unique perspective as an Indigenous writer from the North.
