Friends & Family® Hands-Only CPR and AED

We offer American Heart Association Friends and Family hands-only CPR and AED training to UAF students, staff, and faculty. This course is appropriate for individuals who want to be able to provide life-saving, hands-only (no rescue breathing) CPR and operate an AED before professional rescuers arrive. Course length is approximately one hour. This is the recommended course for most people.

Audience and Class Size

CPR & AED instruction is provided to small groups of up to six UAF faculty, staff, and students (limited to Interior AVÀÇÂÛ̳). Multiple groups (i.e. 12 or 18) may be accommodated simultaneously based on instructor availability.

Scheduling

Courses must be arranged in advance, and are dependent on availability of instructors. Since instruction is provided by UAF student employees of the fire department, one-month lead time is requested. To arrange for a class, please complete this .

Class Location

We provide hands-on training in our classroom at UAF CTC UPark  Building, room118, or we can come to your workplace. If training is to be conducted at your site, we will need you to provide a clean, preferably carpeted room with adequate floor space for manikin practice and A/V equipment.

Costs

$120 for each group of up to six.

Why is hands-only (no rescue breaths) CPR recommended for most people?

Research has shown that effective hands-only CPR provides the best chance of a successful outcome, especially in conjunction with AED use.

Do you offer child and infant CPR training?

We offer child and infant CPR training for UAF affiliates that have a reason to know these skills. We don’t offer to teach these skills broadly because of limits on instructor availability. Courses are taught by UAF student employees of the fire department.

How long does a course completion card last?

For those that need a course completion card to meet occupational or other requirements, this training should be repeated annually.
