The editors of Permafrost read Fiction, Hybrid, Nonfiction and Poetry submissions from September 1 - February 15 for both Print and Online submissions.
Submissions are accepted through our online submission manager which may be found at . Please note that we charge a $3 fee for submitting online, which is comparable to the cost of postage and mailing materials and helps offset some of the journal鈥檚 expenses.
Contributors receive one copy, and may purchase extra copies at a reduced rate of $5, as long as they are in print.
We also accept submissions through snail mail at:
We only accept submissions by mail IF you provide a return envelope with a stamp, so we can mail our reply to you.
Email submissions will not be read.
Guidelines:
We try our best to respond to submissions within 6 to 9 months, and sooner whenever possible. If you haven鈥檛 heard from us within that time frame, you are welcome to contact us for an update, but do know that your work is still under consideration. We appreciate your patience and understanding when delays do occur.
We do not consider previously published work. Simultaneous submissions are welcome and notify us immediately if the work is accepted somewhere else, so that we may congratulate you.
We encourage you to read Permafrost before submitting. Online issues are available for free and can be found on this website. Sample issues can be purchased for $15 through Submittable.
As the editors of the farthest north literary magazine, we鈥檝e chosen an unconventional, expansive place to live. That, too, is what we seek in your submissions, though we like well-written conventional work as well. Please note that since we are run by graduate students, the masthead changes from year to year.
